CHALLENGE

Design and build a robotic arm in High School Engineering Lab with a limited budget.

Process

Tasked with designing housing for the joints as well as electronics and programming.

I learned how to program and wire the circuits without prior knowledge of Arduino and circuits. Designed and laser cut to manufacture housing.

Cycloidal Drive


Uses gears and aluminum dowels to create an eccentric path that creates a gear ratio.

Motor and Joints


Designed in Autodesk Inventor and 3D printed housing for NEMA17 motors. Heat inserts to fasten lid. Printed in ABS.
